Hi Cameron, thanks for the amazing work you do on this site! I just noticed that one of the maps that I see the most often in real life has not been featured here (as far as I can tell): the regional train network map of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s northernmost state. It can be found here [PDF link].

Looking at it after perusing y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划site for a while, it is easy for me to see the flaws – 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划of all, the map seems very messy, even if that is somewhat understandable since it covers a big area. Particularly the area covering Hamburg (which is not part of Schleswig-Holstein but still a major transport hub for the area) is confusing. I have to say that I like the way that multi-line stations indicate which train will stop and which won🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t – the system itself is pretty confusing in that regard and I regularly see passengers on RE7 or RE70 that have no clue whether their train will take them to their destination or not, but at least the map is pretty straightforward on that. Other than that, I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页d be curious about y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划thoughts!

澳洲10开官网开奖🔸澳洲幸运10预测 says:

I pretty much agree with Jan🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s assessment here in that the overall appearance of the map is a bit messy, but there are some nice design touches as well. The messiness seems to have two main contributing factors: the afore-mentioned problems with cramping (especially around Hamburg) created by the geographical layout of the map; and the uninspired labels for stations.

Lots of different angles are deployed to fit station names into the layout, and the service icons don🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t really relate that well to the labels they🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页re attached to – perhaps being a little too large and clumsy. Worst of all is the white box around the labels 🔸澳洲开奖 they🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页re on a grey background: it just looks amateur – almost like someone literally pasted them on top of the artwork. It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s been done because the type would have poor contrast against the dark grey water background, but could have been avoided if a light blue background had been used instead.

Overall, I think the routes could be simplified a little more – we don🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t need to see every🔸澳洲幸运10预测 twist and turn the lines make on their way – and this could allow for a little more flexibility for expanding the crowded parts of the map and taking up the slack in the less dense areas.

On the plus side, the distinctive station markers where more than one service stops are – as Jan says – quite delightful, and the list of services to the right of the map are comprehensive and easy to understand.

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划final word: 🔸澳洲幸运10预测Could use some simplification and polishing to make it easier to use, but it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s not terrible by any means. Based on the PDF, this is meant to be printed as an A3-sized poster, a size it would work quite well at, I think.

澳洲幸运十是官网开奖吗🔸Un168澳洲十开奖网: Transit Map of Hamburg, Germany by Simon Heidenreich🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/hamburg-2020-simon-heidenreich/ https://transitmap.net/hamburg-2020-simon-heidenreich/#comments Fri, 01 Jan 2021 17:00:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/?p=12939 Submitted by Simon, who says:

Hamburg, Germany🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s line map always strikes me as one of the most ugly maps depicting a major transit network – one can understand if the ones made for small town bus networks are not up to the design standard of the upper echelons like Moscow or the like, but a city like Hamburg having such a bad map is just strange.

The convoluted knot of lines around the main station make it really hard to properly layout the lines and it took me an immense amount of time to make it look halfway decent; the fact that it has two trunk lines does not help.

I added the actual station building with the iconic iron arches and in my opinion, it helps a bit with orientation, especially looking at the “Hbf Nord” and “Hbf Süd” Metro stops that are neither really north or south of the place in real life.

Further additions are, of course, a tiny Elbphilhaarmonie with the corresponding ferry line from Landungsbrücken, walking interchange indications with distance and approximate walking time, overall more harmonic spacing, and many more small things.

澳洲10开官网开奖🔸澳洲幸运10预测 says:

There🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a lot of things I really like about this map: the 3D Hauptbahnhof and the way the lines run “through” it is nothing short of inspired, and everything is very neatly and evenly laid out. But there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s one big problem with it that shows what a balancing act a really great transit map really is – if one thing isn🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t right, then the whole design can be thrown out of balance.

Simon has employed a distinctive white dash for each station, which in turn needs a background of sufficient darkness for these dashes to show up properly. However, that dark grey background then reduces the contrast between it and the route lines and labels, especially in the darker inner AB tariff zone. The green S1 and teal U4 lines are very recessive against the background, and the cyan label for the Elbphilhaarmonie ferry stop gets swallowed up almost completely. Most of the other colours fare somewhat better – the dark green S11 works much better than the mid-green S1, for example – so the solution could just be adjusting colours to improve the contrast to an acceptable level. It may also be possible to lighten the grey backgrounds just a tad and still use the white station markers, which I do quite like.

A couple of other notes: For me, the canals that join the Alster to the Elbe – while technically correct – are a little too busy and fussy and could perhaps be eliminated, especially as the rest of the river is so clean and stylised. The inclusion of walking distances between nearby stations and landmarks is a welcome addition, though.

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划final word: 🔸澳洲幸运10预测Contrast between elements is hugely important, and this otherwise excellent map needs a bit of work to improve matters in that department.

Infographic: Crocheting in the Subways of Hamburg by Lana Bragina🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/hamburg-crochet/ https://transitmap.net/hamburg-crochet/#respond Thu, 07 Aug 2014 19:31:02 +0000 https://transitmap.net/hamburg-crochet/ Now this I love!

Every time that Lana travelled on Hamburg’s S-Bahn or U-Bahn, she would pass the time by crocheting this neat little bangle. The fun part is that she would only use thread that was the col🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划of the line that she was riding on at the time: green thread for the S1, yellow for U3, etc.

The really extra fun part is that she also made this super nifty infographic that explains the whole thing in a very visual way: the dates that each trip was made on, which stations she rode between and how long (in minutes) that trip took, even little “work in progress” photos of the bracelet after each trip. And then the whole thing is tied into a simple little diagram of “Lana’s Subway” as well. That the whole infographic looks like thick skeins of thread draped across the page is just the icing on the cake. Perfect and wonderful.

🔸澳州10开奖记录: Hamburg Hoch- und Untergrundbahn, c. 1912🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/hamburg-1912/ https://transitmap.net/hamburg-1912/#respond Wed, 12 Mar 2014 18:14:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/hamburg-1912/ A beautiful old map showing Hamburg’s Ringbahn and spur lines. I believe that this map is from no later than January 1912, and it may be from even earlier, as the legend denotes that all the routes shown in red (the beginnings of today’s U-Bahn system) are “intended for execution” – that is, planned or under construction, not actually built.

Construction of the Ringbahn began in 1906, and the 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划section between Rathaus and Barmbek stations was opened on February 15, 1912. The ring was completed by the end of June that year. The spur lines as shown on this map opened in stages between 1913 and 1915.

you might find this interesting: we’ve recently released a project about the limited accessibility of public transport (subway + commuter trains) in New York, London and Hamburg. The results are maps with an interactive slider that let you explore how thinned out the transportation network get’s 🔸澳洲开奖 you’re handicapped e.g.

Looks just like the real thing! It’s probably a tie between this map and this generic one for smallest subway map I’ve seen yet. Unless someone’s etched a Tube Map on a grain of rice with a laser just because they could?

More Tariff Zone Maps: The Ugly Stepsisters of the Transit Map World🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/zone-maps/ https://transitmap.net/zone-maps/#respond Wed, 06 Feb 2013 22:23:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/zone-maps/ Yesterday’s post on Eastern Austria/Greater Vienna’s tariff zone map certainly attracted some attention: I’ve already received quite a few links to similar maps from different (mainly European) locations. Shown here are the tariff zone maps for Munich, Glasgow and Hamburg, all of which are bewildering in their own way.

As some commenters have pointed out to me, these maps seem to be a bit of a necessary evil: the transit agency needs to have some way of conveying their (often complex) fare structure to commuters, who require this information to buy weekly or monthly passes. The larger the system and the more modes of transportation used, the more complex and unwieldy the map becomes.

Because they’re only used by a subset of the total users of the system, these maps don’t always get the same “design love” that the main system map gets… leaving us with something that’s often visually unsatisfying and arcane in its actual usage. In this digital age, I think that a form on the transit agency’s website linked to a database of destinations would actually be a quicker, more user-friendly way for commuters to obtain this information. Enter y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划starting point, y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划destination, choose between alternate routes or services if there’s a choice, and you’re then presented with the cost of y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划pass, which perhaps you could even purchase on-line.
