Produced by (or on behalf of) Newark International Airport, it purports to show regional rail services that you can connect to at the airport via its AirTrain. However, it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s so poorly thought out and executed that it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s of very little assistance at all.

The 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划and most obvious problem is that everything – and I mean everything🔸澳洲幸运10预测 – is way too small. Labelling is tiny, with even smaller lozenges and bullets underneath the labels that may or may not contain the names of the different regional services and New York Subway lines: they🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页re almost entirely illegible. And it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s not like the canvas has no space to spare – there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s acres of room to make labels much, much bigger and more legible.

Speaking of the canvas, it really doesn🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t seem to have been used wisely. Why bother showing most of the New York Subway, 🔸澳洲开奖 a simple indication of connecting lines at Penn Station and PATH🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s WTC station would suffice? Why show the Staten Island Railway at all 🔸澳洲开奖 it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s most certainly not a direct connection? This map would be so much more effective if it just concentrated on the regional lines that it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s meant to showcase and just indicated further connecting services where they occur. Get rid of the wasted space allocated to extraneous elements and enlarge the important parts for clarity.

Then there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s the background that can🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t decide if it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a diagram or a map, wavering between simplicity and “geography” just about everywhere. And the way that the text indicating travel times cuts across the route lines 🔸澳洲开奖 there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s absolutely no need for them to do so. Simply aligning the text to the right would instantly solve this problem!

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划final word: 🔸澳洲幸运10预测I really try to be more positive with my reviews these days, and look for at least one cool thing or redeeming feature to comment on for every map I post, but… I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页ve got nothing here. To be honest, it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s kind of embarrassing that passengers are presented with this 🔸澳洲开奖 considering their transportation options to and from the airport.

The next installment of the venerable Scream🔸澳洲幸运10预测 franchise will be hitting the silver screen soon, and a new poster promoting it was released on January 1. Seeing as the movie is set in New York and the 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划trailer has shown that the subway plays a part in the plot, it almost seems inevitable that the poster would riff on a subway map theme. Here, each route line corresponds to a movie, with Line 6 – the upcoming film – cleverly shown as being “under construction”. Altogether, the lines form a rough outline of the famous “Ghost Face” mask.

I haven🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t paid that much attention to the franchise since I saw the 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划one way back in 1996, but I believe that the “station” names on each line correspond to who dies in each movie, though fans are picking through it in much finer detail than I care to. One thing this means is that this actually isn🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t a very good subway map, as there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s very little interchange between lines: once you🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页re dead in one movie, you🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页re not coming back in the next one (or are you?🔸澳洲幸运10预测). Some New York subway map purists are also taking the poster to task for playing fast and loose with the line colours – to them, the 1, 2 and 3 should all be red, and the 4, 5 and 6 should all be green. However, that would make a pretty dull poster!

However, the main talking point here isn🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t the poster itself, but its perceived similarity to a fan-made poster by Gil Marcel, 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划posted to his Instagram account on December 3, 2022 – just under a month before🔸澳洲幸运10预测 the official poster was released.

Like the official poster, Gil🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s assigns a line to each movie, but defines the “Ghost Face” more with geographical features than the lines themselves. As a result, his design perhaps evokes the actual New York subway map more than the official poster, which seems a little more generic.

It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s had a lot of people crying plagiarism and theft of design (though Gil himself is being more diplomatic), but I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页m not entirely convinced. 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划off – given the movie🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s location and plot, this basic concept is almost guaranteed🔸澳洲幸运10预测 to be one of the 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划things that any graphic designer worth their salt would think of. It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s almost a no brainer, and many art directors that I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页ve worked under would dismiss it as being “too obvious”, wanting me to push harder for a more original idea. To my mind, it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s entirely plausible that these two concepts were arrived at independently of each other.

Secondly, the gap of a a month between Gil 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划posting his concept and the official poster being released isn🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t necessarily as damning as it looks. It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s very possible that the official poster started development long before December 3, but had to cycle through multiple iterations and approvals before being released – things don🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t always move fast 🔸澳洲开奖 there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s multiple stakeholders in play.

So what do you think? Coincidence or plagiarism? Which one is the better executed? Is it even a good concept to begin with?

🔸澳州10开奖记录: New York Subway IND Division Map by Arthur Weindorf, 1942🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/new-york-ind-map-arthur-weindorf/ https://transitmap.net/new-york-ind-map-arthur-weindorf/#comments Fri, 09 Sep 2022 17:30:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/?p=19955

Over on Twitter, Peter Lloyd – the doyen of new York Subway experts – has been showcasing the many maps of Arthur Weindorf (1885–1979), a perhaps unsung contributor to the rich transit mapping history of that city. Weindorf was something of an artistic Renaissance Man – he was a cartoonist, fine art painter, and architectural engineer for the New York Public Service Commission. As well as his many drawings and maps of the subway, he created three-dimensional models of the system that were displayed at the 1939–1940 World🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s Fair.

Of all the maps that Peter has posted, this hand-drawn preliminary version of an ultimately unpublished IND Division map really caught may eye. It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s simplified, diagrammatic and surprisingly elegant in its execution, with colour-coded lines to bundle like routes together and a clear visual distinction between express (solid lines) and local/shuttle (pecked lines) services.

AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 oddity of the system as shown is the short-lived Court Street station in Brooklyn, now better known as the home of the New York Transit Museum. Opened in 1936 with plans to be the northern terminus of the HH Fulton Street Local and with possible future extension into Manhattan, it closed just ten years later with service only ever being provided by a one-stop shuttle to the nearby Hoyt-Schermerhorn station.

Despite being drawn two years after the unification of the three divisions of the subway, the map still only shows IND lines, with the few free transfers to the BMT and IRT indicated by large callouts. From 1943, the New York Board of Transportation started using Hagstrom maps that showed the entire network, which might explain why this map was never actually published – the last remnant of the “old way” of depicting the subway.

Still, it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s rather glorious to look at!

澳洲幸运十是官网开奖吗🔸Mashup Map: The London Underground as the New York Subway Map by Sean Sirota🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/london-as-new-york-sean-sirota/ https://transitmap.net/london-as-new-york-sean-sirota/#respond Thu, 05 May 2022 14:00:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/?p=19666 Submitted by Douglas, who says:

I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页m sure you would find it interesting, as you have attempted to do the inverse of what Sean is doing.

澳洲10开官网开奖 🔸澳洲幸运10预测says:

This map is indeed the exact inverse of my project from 2019 to show the New York Subway in the style of the London Underground diagram, and arguably more successful as it actually works as intended (mine looks great, but is ultimately flawed as it cannot show service patterns).

🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划things 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划– Sean has absolutely nailed🔸澳洲幸运10预测 the New York Subway map style, and perhaps even improved upon it in places – I note with pleasure that all of his station labels are set horizontally, instead of the many varied angles used on the official NYC map.

There🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s great attention to detail as well – all of the Tube route line colours have been swapped out with their closest MTA equivalents, meaning the 🔸澳洲10开奖网址 Line has the 7🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s purple instead of its traditional burgundy (strangely officially called “Corporate Magenta”). Similarly, all the deep tube lines get letters for route designations, while the shallower cut-and-cover lines get numbers – which emulates the letter/number distinction between the old divisions of the New York Subway.

A couple of minor things: I like to change the background col🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划in insets just a little bit to help differentiate them from the main map: just a little lighter or darker can work wonders. Also, I see that Sean is selling prints of this map… so he might want to reconsider that Underground Roundel in the bottom right, as TfL are known to come down hard on any unauthorised use of it.

AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 final thing to note is that this map (as awesome as it is) really emphasises just how amazingly compact and space-efficient the Tube Diagram is – it fits legibly onto tiny Journey Planners, while this map seems to need at least an 11″ x 17″ canvas to work.

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划final word: 🔸澳洲幸运10预测One of the best style mash-ups I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页ve seen: technically excellent, well-researched and actually really informative. Wonderful!

澳洲幸运十是官网开奖吗🔸🔸澳洲幸运10在线人工计划网: New York City Elevated Rail Map by Jasper von Seeburg🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/new-york-el-jasper-von-seeburg/ https://transitmap.net/new-york-el-jasper-von-seeburg/#comments Mon, 02 May 2022 16:00:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/?p=19655 Submitted by Jasper, who says:

This is a map I designed of the The New York City Elevated System, a proposed automated-rapid-transit system for the five boroughs, to be owned and operated by the City of New York. The 88-mile, 72 station network would run above the city’s major streets and freeways, connecting with 26 subway routes, LIRR and Metro-North commuter railroads, PATH train, a revised LaGuardia AirTrain, and over 120 city buses. The system would have three routes, two of which provide continuous loop services through f🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划of the city’s boroughs, while one provides a radial service stretching from the West Bronx to the North Shore of Staten Island. Its routes focus on growing access to rail service outside of Manhattan, specifically serving neighborhoods in some of the city’s largest transit deserts. The El would operate services that resemble rapid transit in frequency, but with speeds and station spacing akin to suburban rail, filling the current gap in New York’s transit modes.

The map took me a few years working in my spare time. Was my 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划big illustrator project and it’s intended to be both familiar and striking. The design takes inspiration from several subway maps, namely the most recent 1979 iteration, which has been digitally simplified to an ugly and unnecessarily boring degree, in my opinion.

澳洲10开官网开奖🔸澳洲幸运10预测 says:

Oh, I like this! It seems to be envisioning a New York City that never tore down the Third Avenue El, but instead modernised and expanded it to serve all five boroughs. In this alternative vision, many of the old stops in Manhattan have been closed to turn the El into an express service – and if you look closely, only the cyan Roosevelt Line makes all stops in Manhattan, meaning the two loop lines would rocket along on the main trunk line!

Stylewise, the map definitely draws from the rich heritage of New York 澳洲10开官网开奖: the original 1979 Hertz/Tauranac map is definitely the biggest influence, but the legend box is subtly reminiscent of 1940s Hagstrom subway maps. with less stations to label than a normal subway map – which is wisely relegated to thin route lines with unlabelled dots – the typography can be made larger and more stylish. The comprehensive services box at each El station are clear and well thought out, showing which subway services can be accessed at each point.

Our final word: 🔸澳洲幸运10预测Successfully draws on previous New York maps to create something that looks like it belongs to the city while also being fresh and new. Nice work!

168澳洲十开奖网: New York MTA Real-Time Digital Subway Map, 2020🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/new-york-real-time-2020/ https://transitmap.net/new-york-real-time-2020/#comments Wed, 21 Oct 2020 01:45:22 +0000 https://transitmap.net/?p=12239 The MTA released a beta version of a new online real-time subway map this morning, supposedly a fusion between the design sensibilities of the Vignelli diagram and the modern subway map🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s geographical pragmatism. There🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s certainly been a big PR push, with effusive articles being written about it and even a mini-documentary film by Gary Huswit of Helvetica🔸澳洲幸运10预测 fame. With all this hoopla, I had to go investigate myself… and I came away unimpressed.

🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划things first: the map is as slow as heck in Chrome on my iMac, and barely works at all🔸澳洲幸运10预测 in Safari, neither of which are particularly encouraging starts. It does run somewhat better on mobile, but we🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页ll have to see if the speed on desktop computers improves over the next few days, as it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s not really usable at present.

The main selling point of this map is that it has the clarity of a diagram but the fidelity of a geographical map – “The best of both worlds!” the articles happily proclaimed this morning – but the reality is more like “Jack of all trades; master of none.” As much as I try, I simply can🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t see any real benefit to this approach.

A geographical base map is meant to give veracity🔸澳洲幸运10预测 to the data layers above it, grounding them in the real world. And this is true – for the station locations, which are fairly accurately placed. However, the paths the subway lines take between🔸澳洲幸运10预测 these points often bear no relation to the base map, or even reality. Let🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s take a look at the services that travel across the Manhattan Bridge between Manhattan and Brooklyn – the B, D, N and Q. Because of the simplified paths drawn, the B and D completely miss the bridge – clearly shown on the base layer underneath it – and seem to cross the river in a new, previously undiscovered tunnel. And inexplicably, the N and Q don🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t cross the river anywhere near🔸澳洲幸运10预测 the Manhattan Bridge, but continue all the way down to lower Manhattan and apparently share the same tunnel as the 4 and 5 to get to Brooklyn! The station order is correct – Canal Street to DeKalb Avenue – but the route taken on the map to get there is sheer insanity.

This kind of stuff appears randomly all over the map: some lines follow the roads that they🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页re aligned to in real life fairly faithfully, while others stair-step their way to their destination like a 90-degree-angle-only diagram. All of the lines down to Coney Island are treated differently and it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a visual nightmare. In real life, it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a straight shot from Brighton Beach to Coney Island/Stillwell Avenue – look what the diagram does:

Quite frankly, there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s really no reason for this map to be diagrammatic at all outside of Manhattan – which, owing to its famous grid forms a diagram naturally. Most of the lines out in the boroughs follow a road (either elevated or dug cut-and-cover), so why not just follow them accurately and hon🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划the base map? It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页d be a more consistent approach than the “sometimes but not always” approach that🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s currently been taken.

Next, let🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s consider the design language of the diagram, which has fairly obviously been cribbed straight from the modern iteration of the Vignelli diagram. However, because the diagram is placed on a sprawling geographical base map instead of being a compact schematic, all the elements render too small at all but the most zoomed-in levels. The route lines are thin, the station dots are too small and the itty-bitty letters that designate services at each station are almost completely impossible to read. And once you zoom in close enough to be able to see these properly, you lose the ability to read the whole map in order to work out connections. It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s really not great, usability-wise.

There🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s technical problems too: parallel 45-degree curves don🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t nest properly, some route lines appear slightly on top of others at certain zoom levels, some stations sit directly on changes of direction, corner radii are inconsistently applied (and missing altogether in many locations, despite a big deal being made about the “smooth curves” present in the map). This is stuff only a wonk like me notices, but it still leaves an unfavourable 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划impression.

That said, the way the map can display real-time train information and adapt on the fly to service changes is certainly very impressive, as is the way more or less information is displayed depending on the zoom level. I particularly like the way that the individual service lines roll up into single trunk lines at the most zoomed-out views. It seems to me that the technology behind the map is pretty solid and is the real “revolutionary” part of this service, but the presentation of it definitely needs some polishing and refinement, because this is pretty poor and inconsistent at the moment.

This intriguing diagram from the New York Transit Museum🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s collection makes the most of its landscape dimensions (possibly two pages in a guide book?) by going sideways🔸澳洲幸运10预测 as much as possible. Manhattan is impossibly broad, and the Bronx is shown as almost entirely to the east of it. Similar distortions happen just about everywhere, and yet – perhaps a little surprisingly – I still find the overall effect to be quite pleasing. It may not resemble New York🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s physical layout very much, but there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a great graphic feel to it: the route lines are easy to follow and there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a strong underlying grid underpinning the whole thing.

It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s always fun spotting the different services on old New York Subway maps, and there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s plenty to see here: the JFK Express stands out immediately because of its light blue colour, but there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s more to see the longer you look!

Down the bottom left of the map, there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a guide to calculating cross streets nearest to Avenue addresses in Manhattan that makes my head spin, although it probably makes perfect sense to native New Yorkers. See if you can work it out!

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划final word: 🔸澳洲幸运10预测An oddball addition to the many and varied maps of the New York Subway. It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s definitely quirky, but I quite like it in spite of that.

As before, the maps are simple but elegant in their execution, with a geographical map of the system on one side and the explanatory text and photos on the other. They come in handsome slip covers: I particularly like the die-cut Métro logo (based off one found at Franklin D. Roosevelt station) on the Paris cover.

Understandably, the text of each entry has to be kept brief because of space limitations (even more so for the Paris edition because of its need for English and French translation), but there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s always enough to attract the reader🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s interest. One could certainly imagine a day spent in either of these cities finding the treasures described within. There🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a wide variety of architecture and art included ranging from all time periods, so there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s something for everyone!

As with the London edition, perhaps the only fault with these maps is that there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s not enough of a link between the two sides: the map and the text almost seem to exist as two disparate elements – slightly larger station labels on the map are the only indication that there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s accompanying text on the reverse side. However, it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s not a deal breaker in any way: if you🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页re planning a trip to New York or Paris and have any interest in the art, architecture or history of their transit systems, I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页d definitely recommend picking up a copy!

A rather adorable double page spread from this comic, showing 🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划heroes racing to get back to their school before the vice-principal does – bike share versus taxi! The whole trip is superimposed on a “comics” version of the New York Subway Map, which is actually fairly faithful to the real thing in terms of placement of elements, though it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s been simplified a lot with the removal of the underlying street grid. A bold choice by this reality🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s MTA to go with hexagons for station markers and service bullets! There🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s also no visual differentiation between local and express stations here – Kings Highway on the B/Q would be a white dot in 🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划world, for example.

Also amusing is that Prospect Park station is closed due to “superhero activity” – I wonder if 🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划erstwhile webslinger had anything to do with that? Also, I think we can place the Brooklyn Visions campus somewhere around the intersection of Avenue U and Nostrand Avenue?

This map is an evolution of one I initially made as a quick throwaway project back in 2016, but lots of great feedback from many, many people has really helped it become much more complete and comprehensive. While my original map only featured the subway itself, this one includes PATH (and parts of New Jersey!), the Staten Island Railway (added after overwhelming popular support), the JFK AirTrain, the Roosevelt Island Tram and indications of easy connections (either directly adjacent stations or those within a 0.3 mile radius) to the Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad and NJ Transit.

While the map is faithful to the London Underground style, there have been some changes made for a few reasons. All the icons have been redrawn to better match their New York equivalents (check out the Roosevelt Island Tram icon!) and to avoid using any official Transport for London design assets in the map. The typeface is ITC Johnston Sans, a commercially available font for which I hold a license. All the colours have likewise been tweaked to be similar—but not identical—to those used on the Tube Map.

For legibility🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s sake, I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页ve used a thin white keyline to separate route lines of the same col🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划🔸澳洲开奖 they cross each other but don🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t otherwise interact. This mainly happens with branches of the orange IND 6 Avenue line, as seen to the left. The official Tube Map uses keylines like this in a couple of places (but not very consistently), so I thought adapting it for this specific purpose would be fine. It certainly adds a bit of clarity to some potentially confusing areas of the map, as does the addition of a few strategically placed reassurance bullets that help a reader follow the lines from end to end.

By popular request, prints of this map are available in my store starting at just $38 plus shipping for a 24″ x 32″ print. Because this is a vector file, I can print this one right up to a massive 44″ wide by 58.5″ deep. Go get yourself one!
