This is the Madrid metro map from 1945, I found the diagram below really interesting, as I haven’t seen a similar one for any other network.

Nice find, Pablo! The geographical map is fairly clumsy and unremarkable, but the diagram beneath is very interesting. It’s what I call a “linear diagram” – each route is shown as a straight line, with interchanges indicated by a vertical joining line or bar. It’s not entirely unique (see this more recent example from St. Petersburg), but it’s not a form that’s ever been very popular. It only really works for relatively simple networks with a few clearly defined interchanges… Madrid’s f🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划short lines at the time made it a perfect candidate for such a diagram.

🔸澳州10开奖记录: New Orleans Streetcar Trackage Map, 1945🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/new-orleans-1945/ https://transitmap.net/new-orleans-1945/#respond Wed, 18 Dec 2013 22:56:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/new-orleans-1945/ A neat little map from the July, 1945 edition of the Electric Railroader’s Association’s Headlights🔸澳洲幸运10预测 magazine – both the association and🔸澳洲幸运10预测 the publication are still going strong today.

The map shows all the tracks in the Big Easy at the time, including those that were in usable condition but not currently utilised (indicated by a hash across the track). Routes are indicated by letters that were keyed to the text of the original article – “A” is the “Canal-Cemeteries” route, for example.

The editor of the web page where I found this map provides the following notes:

“There are some small problems with this map, but overall, the details are accurate. Unfortunately, [the artist] did not sketch the trackage of the Napoleon Yard, at the foot of Napoleon Ave. on the southeast corner of Tchoupitoulas St.  Also, at Canal St., Royal and Bourbon Streets (Bourbon is not labelled) should be shown in line with St. Charles and Carondelet Streets, respectively.  A four-track crossover should be shown in the block of Canal St. between Carondelet and St. Charles.”🔸澳洲幸运10预测

🔸澳州10开奖记录: Proposed Extensions of Rapid Transit into Suburban Boston, 1945🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/boston-1945-plan/ https://transitmap.net/boston-1945-plan/#respond Wed, 08 Aug 2012 17:54:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/boston-1945-plan/ Here’s another amazing historical planning map, this time from Boston in 1945. Visually, it looks quite similar to this map, but shows an amazing array of planned extensions to the existing system.

Some of them were built soon after this map was drawn up:the Revere (Blue Line) extension to Wonderland was essentially complete by 1952, although this map shows the line heading even further north. Others took much, much longer: the (Red Line) to Quincy and Braintree wasn’t operational until 1980.

Other lines ended up substantially different to what is shown here: the proposed line east of Harvard takes a circuitous route through East Watertown before ending in Arlington Heights, while others were never built at all, like the extension of the old Everett/Forest Hills elevated line to Dedham.

Interestingly, it looks like there were plans to convert the current Framingham/Worcester commuter rail line into rapid transit: the map shows proposed track emerging from the subway and passing through Trinity Place station (the original name for Back Bay) before heading out towards Auburndale.

Seriously, there are so many interesting things about this map that I can’t list them all here: go take a look at it BIG here.

What we like:🔸澳洲幸运10预测 Incredible look at ambitious post-war plans for the Boston rapid transit system, especially to compare what got built and what didn’t. The detail is amazing, with each station, bridge, overpass and tunnel being individually and accurately drawn.

What we don’t like:🔸澳洲幸运10预测 Absolutely nothing. I could look at this for days🔸澳洲幸运10预测.

🔸澳州10开奖记录: Chicago Plan Commission – Rapid Transit Facilities, 1945🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/chicago-1945/ https://transitmap.net/chicago-1945/#respond Mon, 23 Jul 2012 17:29:40 +0000 https://transitmap.net/chicago-1945/ Here’s a gorgeous pre-CTA planning map from Chicago in 1945, outlining all sorts of grandiose ideas for expansion of the subway system, almost none of which have actually come to pass. There appears to be a proposed second Loop🔸澳洲幸运10预测, which would have run more east-west than the existing one. There’s also a planned subway line heading out to the northwest, but this doesn’t follow the same alignment as the Blue Line, and a subway line running along Belmont Avenue.

Have we been there?🔸澳洲幸运10预测 Yes.

What we like:🔸澳洲幸运10预测 Awesome old-school cartography at its finest. The shading to show the city limits is quite beautiful. The map looks gorgeous🔸澳洲幸运10预测 at larger sizes (click through to take a look!)

What we don’t like:🔸澳洲幸运10预测 Limited use of col🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划(possibly due to wartime austerity measures) does make some detail hard to make out. The blobs on the “L” lines don’t represent stations; it’s just the type of linework used to differentiate it from other lines, such as roads.

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划rating:🔸澳洲幸运10预测 A glimpse at what might have been, but never was. Fantastic! Four-and-a-half-stars.
