A handsome hand-drawn map of the entire D.C. Transit streetcar network from August 1958, less than f🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划years before the system closed entirely. The map was drawn by Charles Wagner, who was an active member of the Washington, DC chapter of the Electric Railway Historical Society in the 1950s, an august body that still exists to this day.

Submission – 🔸澳州10开奖记录: Trams and Buses of Brussels, Belgium, 1958🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/brussels-1958/ https://transitmap.net/brussels-1958/#respond Fri, 20 Mar 2015 23:44:45 +0000 https://transitmap.net/brussels-1958/

Submitted by Thierry.

A very stylish diagrammatic map of tramways (coloured lines) and bus routes (dotted black lines). This city’s historic centre is shaded grey, while the site of Expo 58 (or the Brussels World’s Fair) is given much prominence to the top left of the map. There’s a lovely economy of line in this map: everything serves a purpose and there’s a definite minimalist clarity in the design. Quite lovely.

A page from a high school geography text book depicting the major railways and operating regions of France. Notable mainly for the eye-popping candy-striping of the regions. Although the source on Flickr says the book dates from 1958, I’m pretty certain it’s a reprinted edition of an older book, as the train moderne🔸澳洲幸运10预测 at the top of the page seems to be a streamlined “Pacific” 4-6-2 steam engine, popular in Europe in the late 1930s.

Replica 1958 Transit Map at the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, Japan🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/ramen-map/ https://transitmap.net/ramen-map/#respond Fri, 25 Jul 2014 21:17:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/ramen-map/

No seriously: a museum devoted to ramen (in all honesty, it actually sounds pretty awesome). This map is found on the main floor of the museum, where nine restaurants serve different styles of ramen from Japan and around the world in a faithfully recreated Japanese streetscape from 1958 – the year that instant ramen was invented.

As to which transit system it represents, I can’t even begin to guess. The original post on Flickr posits Tokyo, but the museum is closer to Yokohama… But I’m pretty sure that one of you will be able to help out and translate/locate for me.

🔸澳洲幸运10开奖官网开奖结果走势图🔸EDIT: And… that took all of 10 minutes to work out. Thanks to psylin for translating and finding out that the red station is “Narutobashi”, a fictional station and area that the replica streetscape represents.

However, I am🔸澳洲幸运10预测 almost certain that the numbers in the station dots represent the fare from the red “You Are Here” dot.

🔸澳州10开奖记录s: Evolution of the Stockholm Metro Map, c.1958-1971🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/stockholm-evolution/ https://transitmap.net/stockholm-evolution/#respond Sun, 02 Jun 2013 20:00:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/stockholm-evolution/ Here’s a fantastic photo showing three versions of the map for the Stockholms tunnelbana🔸澳洲幸运10预测, probably taken at the Stockholm Transit Museum. By comparing the three maps and the looking at the stations shown on each of them, I’ve roughly dated each as follows.

The top map is from between November 19, 1958 (🔸澳洲开奖 the Farsta station opened), and November 14, 1959, 🔸澳洲开奖 Rågsved station (shown on the middle map, but not on the top one) opened.

The middle map is from around late 1964/early 1965, as it shows Fruangen and Ornsberg stations (1964), but only shows Ostermalmstorg (1965) as being under construction.

The final map is from between 1967 and 1971, as it’s after Ropsten and Vårberg have opened, but before the extension to Farsta Strand has been built. Interestingly, this extension is shown as being “under construction” on the middle map, but makes no appearance at all on the final map.

What’s truly fascinating about this trio of maps is the rapid transition from geographical map, through a more stylised map (note that it retains some semblance of a coastline where the tracks cross water), to a severe rectilinear diagram in just 13 years or so. Each map is also quite beautiful in their own way.

Route numbers on the second and third maps allow service patterns and short run lines to be shown very effectively. I think the treatment on the final map is one of the best I have ever seen: it’s clear to see exactly which stations Line 13 runs between, for example.

Compare to the current Stockholm transit map (Nov. 2011, 3.5 stars)
