Hello! I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页m a transportation planning student and longtime fan of y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划blog, and wanted to submit this map from the twin cities of Zlín and Otrokovice in Moravia in the Czech Republic. The cities have a long history as company towns for the Baťa shoe company and have a very different pattern of urban development than other cities in the region. The region, set in a valley, was planned reflecting modernist principles set by Le Corbusier and Ebenezer Howard, with later additions following the typical socialist-influenced planning used in other modernist housing estates in the former Czechoslovakia. The city🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s trolleybus network, which began construction right before WWII, follows the main urban growth axis along the valley, and a local railway line is also integrated into the municipal transport ticketing scheme. The map used is an isometric one which uses coloration based on the tariff zones lines pass through, and line thickness determines the mode that operates on that portion. Let me know y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划thoughts!

澳洲10开官网开奖🔸澳洲幸运10预测 says:

This is a bit of an odd one. While this diagram has been drawn with a lot of skill and precision, I don🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t think it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s actually that usable as a piece of wayfinding design. The best example of this genre – an isometric diagram of S- and U-Bahn service in Stuttgart from c. 2000 – works because the whole thing is so simple and clean. All the routes are shown at the same level in the hierarchy and are traceable from one end to the other along their colour-coded lines, leaving no ambiguity at all.

However, this diagram is far more complex and idiosyncratic, and the isometric treatment just adds another barrier to comprehension on top of that. This means everything just takes that little bit longer to understand, and the oft-quoted “eight-second rule” (before a user simply gives up) starts to kick in. A few main problems that I see:

The colour-coding of lines by fare zone seems like a good idea, but it breaks the routes up into disparate segments that look for all the world like they🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页re totally separate routes that interchange at certain stations along the way. Meanwhile, the grey and white shading behind the diagram has absolutely nothing to do with fare zones, but apparently denotes areas where front door-only boarding is enforced (presumably to stop unscrupulous riders from sneaking on via the back door and not paying a fare?). So right from the start, that🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s two🔸澳洲幸运10预测 major design elements that have completely different meanings to what they usually have on a transit map. While innovation and thinking outside the box are laudable ideals, too much messing with the recognised design language of 澳洲10开官网开奖 can impede usability.

Because each mode – trolleybus and bus – only gets one route line regardless of how many services use each segment, users have to find their desired route number and then hunt for it across the map again and again to follow it to their destination. Changes of direction and branches aren🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t shown that intuitively, so it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s hard work, made a bit more difficult by the fact that there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s no differentiation in the way that the route numbers are presented visually – it becomes tricky to know whether you should be following a thick trolleybus line or a thin bus line. Of course, locals might be aware that trolleybuses use route numbers 1 through 14 (the rest being normal buses), but that doesn🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t help tourists or other people unfamiliar with the network.

The diagram certainly is visually striking, and I appreciate the attention to detail that🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s been put into its creation. Like the Stuttgart diagram, there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a “3D” building incorporated into the diagram that helps to really sell the dimensional illusion. I also really appreciate the way that there are absolutely no horizontal or vertical route line segments – these always look a bit out of place on these isometric projections. The legend is skillfully incorporated into the map, and the arrows to orient users along the length of the valley is also a nice touch.

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划final word: 🔸澳洲幸运10预测Really, really pretty – but it seems like a lot of hard work to actually use to get around. Too many conventions get turned on their head.

A very handsome map of transportation services in the greater Kansas City area from 1941. A nicely subdued olive street grid is overlaid by the route lines – colour-coded by mode (black for streetcars, blue and red for bus lines, and a lovely aqua for trolleybuses). Areas of interest are called out in bright yellow, so this looks like a six-col🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划print job – quite a luxury in 1941!

There🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s also a great downtown inset, a great ornate compass rose incorporating the logo of the Kansas City Public Service Co., and some fantastic🔸澳洲幸运10预测 1940s typography throughout. What🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s not to love?

Side note: 🔸澳洲幸运10预测Copy on the reverse of the map notes that the transportation company of 1941 “operates a fleet of 413 electric cars, 234 motor busses and 86 trolley busses, supplying service on 251 miles of street car routes, 191 miles of motor bus routes and 51 miles of trolley bus routes.”

A map from the Beamish Museum showing the Newcastle upon Tyne tram, trolleybus and bus network in 1949. The trams and trolleys are long gone, but the bus network is still recognisable. I used to take the number 1 through that janky Heaton route in the 2000s.

The choice of sections for the map lookup references seems very of its time too.

澳洲10开官网开奖🔸澳洲幸运10预测 says:

A rather splendid map, with every element hand-drawn – including two charming illustrations of double-decker vehicles in the top corners. Interestingly, the main map seems to be presented at a slightly oblique angle almost as if the view was from an aeroplane high above the city. Distances along the north-south axis are somewhat compressed, and everything leans to the left a little. The bridges over the River Tyne are drawn in a way that reinforces this perspective, so the effect is quite convincing.

If you look closely at this copy of the map, you can see that someone has meticulously written in the locations of all the car barns in blue ink – I wonder who owned this map in the past?

And yes, it always amazes me how modern bus routes continue to travel over the exact same route their predecessors did so long ago!

Between 1980 and 1990, the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive repeatedly attempted to gain government funding for this project: this leaflet looks like one of those efforts, extolling the benefits of such a network. Eventually, a private bus operator announced a plan to operate a diesel bus service along the proposed route and the initiative was shelved. Of interest is the concept that the trolleybus could eventually be replaced by a “new Rapid Transit System” called ElectroLine – very similar to the idea often presented today that BRT can be replaced with light rail 🔸澳洲开奖 ridership reaches a certain level.

The map itself is simple and high-level, with the three phases of the project simply denoted by colour. Hi Cameron! I was just browsing through y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划review archives and saw that the last time you covered Prague was in 2012 [A variety of maps were reviewed back then: full service, overview and “just right” Metro and tram – Cam]. Recently the transit authority PID (Pražská integrovaná doprava, Prague integrated transportation) released a map of a never before seen scale that I thought you might be interested in checking out. It’s displayed at information stands near metro station entrances and passengers can pick up free prints from the main railroad station. What’s unique about this map is that it includes absolutely all transit routes managed by PID (universal branding and a united fare system applies) within the limits of Prague: metro, trams, buses as well as commuter trains — and the main focus is on service frequency rather than vehicle type, which I find extremely useful. It also demonstrates the nature of a truly integrated transit system, which, for a transit advocate like me, is quite amazing! I was really wondering what y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划opinion on this map would be as I was personally super impressed by the author’s attention to detail (train tunnels are particularly lovely). Greetings from the Czech Republic… and keep up the amazing work! I always enjoy reading y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划reviews.

澳洲10开官网开奖🔸澳洲幸运10预测 says:

Detailed maps like these are often hard to review, because I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页m looking at a PDF on a screen instead of on a large printed sheet as intended by the designer – this map is meant to be on an A1 sheet (841 x 594mm or about 33.1 x 23.4 inches), so it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s big🔸澳洲幸运10预测.

That said, my overall impression is that this is a comprehensive and detailed map of services in and around Prague, a commendable effort indeed. The three Metro lines are thick and bright and underpin the rest of the map – I like the use of the Metro🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s distinctive “M-arrow” logo as station markers: it really helps further differentiate these lines from everything else. The other city services – tram, trolleybus, bus, ferry and funicular – are only differentiated by frequency, with thicker lines meaning “more often”. There🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s no definition of actual frequency given in the legend, so the concept can only be taken as a general indication of how often things run. A secondary legend down the bottom right indicates what numbers each service type uses (1–26 for trams, 50–68 for trolleybuses, and three-digit numbers for buses), which is very handy to know. I also like the icons for the different transit modes!

While the map is intentionally and necessarily detailed, I do feel it can become overly fussy in a few places. For example, the map shows all the curves in the road that the tram lines take north of Malostranská Metro station – a particularly hilly part of town just below Prague Castle – but all it does is obscure the Metro line beneath it. Given a choice between showing the actual routing of lines and simplifying the design so that paths can be followed more easily, I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页d prefer the latter in most cases. I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页m undecided about the white areas in the background of the map to denote populated areas: I can see why it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s been done, but it makes the whole map look a bit patchy. I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页d be interested to see a version where the inner PID zone is an all white background with the outer zone light grey – I think it would help to make the map look a bit less busy and draw attention to that central area bit more.

On a similar note, I think that raster effects are a bit overused throughout the map: water, parks, zone boundaries, bridges and more all use some kind of inner glow or drop shadow and it can get distracting, especially where two different glows interact with each other. I personally think the glow edges on the parks could be done away with to make the whole map a bit flatter and more graphical.

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划final word: An impressive attempt at a unified transit map for greater Prague. Perhaps a little too busy and fussy in parts, but could be great if it was simplified and streamlined a bit. Three-and-a-half stars!

The tunnel will now exclusively be used for light rail services, which will increase with the opening of East Link in the future.

To commemorate this occasion, let🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s have a look at an 🔸澳州10开奖记录 showing a time 🔸澳洲开奖 buses previously ran on the surface downtown.

It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a pretty simple affair, with red and blue bus routes being surprinted on top of a standard Rand McNally map of Seattle… if you look closely, you can see that black road lines continue through the middle of the circular route number bullets. The dense downtown network (with buses running along every avenue from 1st to 5th!) is almost impossible to make out, but there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a more detailed downtown map on the reverse. It shows through the the thin paper a bit, as well as what seems to be a very🔸澳洲幸运10预测 large notice about only exact change being accepted to the bottom right.

Of note is the extremely dense and regular grid of routes in Ballard, and the comparative lack of routes in South Seattle. Many routes end in a little loop, so I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页m guessing that these are trolleybus routes that can🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t just turn around on the spot to go back the other way.

The presence of the blue “Blue Streak” express bus routes allows us to date the map even more precisely than the 1970 copyright notice at the bottom of the map. These express services commenced on September 8, 1970 with Route 41, a route that still exists today in the current King County Metro network.

澳洲10开官网开奖🔸澳洲幸运10预测 says:

Somewhat blurring the line between illustration and map, this diagram — created to provide visitors to the city with an overview of transit in the city and how it relates to points of interest — presents the trolleybus lines and the city as an oblique “birds-eye” view from the sea with the mountains rising behind. Printed versions of the map are die cut to the shape of the mountains and sea, which is a rather lovely and unexpected touch.

The attention to detail is quite staggering, with all of the little point of interest icons being drawn in proper perspective according to their location on the map. I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页ve often bemoaned icons drawn from conflicting viewpoints on other maps, so this is rather wonderful to see. There🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s also a sense of whimsy — the dockside crane on the waterfront is lifting up one of the letters in its label, for example.

The time that it takes the trolleybus to travel between key points is indicated on the map, as well as approximate walking times to points of interest (though the exact route to take is probably left to a more detailed map). Connections to normal bus services that can get to other points of interest are also shown.

If I had one complaint about this map, it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s that the graceful, sweeping route that the trolleybuses are shown as taking bears very little resemblance to the real world. In actuality, the route takes a hard 90-degree turn away from the coast at the stop where route 42 starts and runs along both sides of the canalised Bystra River (northbound on the west bank, southbound on the east bank). While not essential details to show, both the turn and the split route along the river could serve as very important mental wayfinding tools for people unfamiliar with Yalta🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s geography — the very people the map is meant to assist. Earlier iterations of the map (see the short video below) showed both of these in various forms, so it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s interesting to see how the design moved away from a more literal interpretation to this more stylistic form.

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划rating:🔸澳洲幸运10预测 Looks absolutely gorgeous, full of wonderful details and information. However, I feel that the map🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s heavily stylised form actually detracts somewhat from its stated mission of assisting tourists. Three stars.

The huge diagonal slash of the main routes through the city is just gorgeous, and – as Kostya notes – actually does reflect the real topology of the city quite well. Also of note is the hard drop shadow underneath the white station markers on the lighter-coloured route lines, which helps define them better than if there was no shadow. It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a subtle but important addition that works nicely.

The more detailed central part of the city is well done, with its visible streets and softly-faded edges. This is a very competent map that Kirill has designed, although I do feel that I’ve seen some of the elements used to create it before in this 2015 map of the tram network of Chelyabinsk by Ilya Birman and Alexander Karavaev. The flared station ticks, enlarged route designation numbers arranged across the route lines, shadows where lines pass under another one and even the reduction of the city’s coat of arms to a black and white version are all very reminiscent of that work for me.

Leaving that aside, I do wonder why the map doesn’t incorporate Kemerovo’s five-line tram network alongside the trolleybuses. It always seems odd to me 🔸澳洲开奖 complementary 🔸澳洲幸运10开奖官网开奖结果澳大利亚 are presented on separate maps with no indication that any other mode exists, or “mode vacuum” as I like to call it.

Other thoughts: I like the stylistic treatment of the water on the Tom River, though it looks a little unfinished on the other tributary rivers. The icons for major city buildings are nicely executed, though I do prefer it 🔸澳洲开奖 all the buildings are drawn from the same perspective, as this gives greater unity to the map. Here, three are drawn from street level but the fourth is drawn from an aerial perspective. Though the map is largely self-explanatory, a legend would still be nice. A bilingual Russian/English version might be nice to see – always a fun design challenge to make that work.

A stylish little diagram of trolleybus routes in the Estonian capital. It’s from later than 2000, 🔸澳洲开奖 Line 8 was abandoned, but also from before December 2012, 🔸澳洲开奖 Line 2 was replaced by regular buses. Today, only lines 1, 3, 4, 5 and 9 remain. Can anyone date this even more precisely?

Stylistically, the diagram reminds me a lot of these 1990 diagrams of trams and trolleybuses from Kaliningrad, with some interesting abstract shapes and a slightly rough, “hand made” feel to the whole thing. Interestingly, the diagram uses the line numbers as station markers, reinforcing which route you’re following every step of the way. It’s not an approach I’ve seen often, but on a relatively simple network like this it’s actually surprisingly effective. Having less than 10 lines certainly helps!

Despite only having eight lines, two colours get reused: lines 6 and 9 are both light blue, while lines 1 and 7 are both pink. However, these pairs of lines only cross each other instead of running parallel, so there’s no real ill effects from this approach.

🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划rating: A little rough and ready, but nicely compact and very cheery. Three-and-a-half stars.
