I made an animated visualization of the light rail infrastructure of San Francisco from 1850–to–nowish. I was wondering if you would be interested in posting!

澳洲10开官网开奖 says:

I sure would be, Travis! This is a great 15-minute video that succinctly outlines the rise and fall of rail-based street transit in San Francisco, Oakland and even Marin County. The sheer number of competing companies in the early years is quite staggering! The impact of the Great Earthquake is covered, and there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s even a look at a couple of “alternate future” San Franciscos – one dominated by all the freeways that were once planned, and another where much of the rail infrastructure had been kept. Nicely animated and clearly narrated, it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s well worth a look to get an overview of transit history in the Bay Area.

Note: Travis acknowledges his error regarding San Francisco🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s current population at the beginning of the video; don🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t hold it against him!

168澳洲十开奖网: Sound Transit Line Nomenclature from 2021, Seattle🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/sound-transit-line-names-2021/ https://transitmap.net/sound-transit-line-names-2021/#comments Fri, 10 Apr 2020 01:06:00 +0000 https://transitmap.net/?p=11729 Sound Transit🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s network will expand rapidly in the near future – with new Link light rail lines, extensions to the Tacoma Link streetcar and Sounder commuter rail, as well as the new Stride BRT lines along SR 523/SR 522 and I-405. With all these new services, Sound Transit has to come up with a way to identify all of them on future maps.

Originally, the current Link light rail spine was going to be renamed as the Red Line, with future lines gaining new colours as they came online. However, the local community was quick to point out the similarity of that name to the racist practice of redlining🔸澳洲幸运10预测, where people of col🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划were denied loans or insurance, defining where in a city they could live. Though Sound Transit acknowledges that there are many other Red Lines around the world, they also chose to act decisively and change their plans at this early stage.

So now we have five Link lines – f🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划of which will be numbered as the main network, while the separate Tacoma Link streetcar will be the “T Line”. The Stride network will get an “S” prefix before their numbers, and the Sounder lines will become the “N Line” and “S Line” after the directions trains travel out of Seattle. To show off this new system, Sound Transit has made this nifty little animated GIF showing how the network will change over time as each new component comes on line. Neat!

The colours actually work well 🔸澳洲开奖 placed together on the map, and Sound Transit says that though has gone into making them user-friendly for colour-blind readers, which is good to hear. The other thing to note is that there🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s still 21 years to go until the system is built out fully, which is like FOREVER.

“Between Stations” by Nicholas Rougeux🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/between-stations/ https://transitmap.net/between-stations/#respond Sun, 24 Sep 2017 16:55:45 +0000 https://transitmap.net/between-stations/

We’ve featured plenty of Nick’s work on 澳洲10开官网开奖 before – he has an uncanny knack of taking something familiar and mundane and looking at it from a completely new perspective.

His new project, “Between Stations” is no exception, as he literally pulls apart subway systems from around the world and rearranges them into attractive circular forms. No scaling or rotation of the line segments is performed, they’re just rearranged to fill the circle. What’s really interesting is that each circle is unique and different, much like a fingerprint. New York’s angled street grid is still obvious (above), London is still a tangled mess, and so on.

Nick has a whole page on the methodology behind the making of the maps – a curious mixture of automated data and manual work – and there are also posters for sale.

However, I could just stare all day at the animated GIFs that morph the subway systems into their fingerprints and back again. Mesmerising!

Unofficial 🔸澳州10开奖记录: An Animated History of the MBTA🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页 https://transitmap.net/animated-mbta/ https://transitmap.net/animated-mbta/#respond Thu, 05 Apr 2012 16:46:23 +0000 https://transitmap.net/animated-mbta/

This is something you just have🔸澳洲幸运10预测 to look at: an amazing animated timeline of the Boston MBTA Subway over at Andrew Lynch’s Vanshnookenraggen🔸澳洲幸运10预测 blog (check out his future MBTA maps while you’re there).

To my mind, this work is far superior to the animated history of the New York Subway map that was floating around the interwebs a little while back: it’s clearly dated on the map, it’s fully annotated, and even has a slide show version below the animated GIF so you can flick through the years at y🔸澳洲幸运10冠军定位计划own pace. What’s fascinating to me is the almost complete reinvention of transit in Boston as the original elevated lines get torn down and replaced by subway.

An amazing work, and fully worthy of a 5 star rating. I’m not going to steal Andrew’s thunder by posting the full GIF here: click here to visit his site and watch the years roll by!
