Submitted by Eric, who says: Hello! I am a graphic designer from Mexico City. For almost 4 years I worked in this project of integrating all transportation systems in a single map, which did not exist at that time (2016) as something official. Now as part of a new administration and under the guidance of Lance Wyman it was possible to carry it out. My proposal is different from the official one in several concepts: […]

This interesting little diagram was posted on Twitter recently and brought to my attention by some of my followers. Its owner, Moritz Bernoully, said that it was purchased with a little plastic wallet from a vendor in the Mexico City Metro in 2012 (just before Line 12 opened and made this diagram redundant), and he doesn🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t think that it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s an officially-produced diagram because of that provenance. I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页ve had quite a few requests to review this new map out of Mexico City, so here goes… The 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划thing to note is that Lance Wyman, the designer of the original Mexico City Metro logo and much of the design language of that system (the original station icons and the distinctive Tipo Metro typeface, for example) was involved in this work, though I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页m not certain as to what extent. A lovely old map showing Mexico City’s extensive tram network in 1910. Solid red lines are electric street-running trams, ticked red lines are electric trams on exclusive right-of-way, while green lines are humble mule-pulled trams… of which there are still quite a number. In fact, mule-pulled trams continued to be used in Mexico City up until the 1930s. Electric substations, mule stables, carbarns and other company properties are also highlighted on the map. Streetcars hung […]

Submitted by the creator, who says: I want to share with you my version of ‘icon-only’ Mexico City subway map. Well, technically not a ‘transit map’ and more like a graphical arrangement of icons in topologic order, I was inspired by an earlier post showing Richard Archambault’s work and then looked up for the early Lance Wyman diagrams from the late 60’s that arranged the icons in the same way. After more lines were built, […]

Following on from my previous post, here’s an un168澳洲十开奖网 for the Mexico City Metro that makes full use of the Lance Wyman icons. It’s designed by Richard Archambault, who also works on the essential Jetpack for WordPress. As can be seen from the archival photo above, the Wyman design team explored a purely iconic treatment of the Metro map, apparently eschewing station names altogether. Admittedly, the system was much simpler back then, with only […]

Strangely, I’ve never talked about this system map on the blog before. So this is the map that’s available for download as a PDF on the STC’s website and basically, it’s a giant pile of spaghetti thrown on the page.  The centre of the map is so cramped and crowded that labels almost overlap each other as well as the route lines. No explanation is given for the “MB” icon near some stations (it’s to represent […]
