Having looked at a highly-successful isometric-style diagram yesterday, here🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s one that🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s nowhere near as accomplished despite sharing many of the same design elements. A major factor is that Wales has a a distinctive and recognisable shape that aids in locating major towns, while the Grand Est region is very indistinct and blobby. The simplified shape used on the diagram isn🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页t actually much like the real world, so it🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s not that useful for locating places. Highlighting […]

The system is a proposed high-speed rail network to connect New England🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s major hubs. In my map, I imagine it connecting to and interacting with the existing CT Rail, MBTA Commuter Rail, and Amtrak systems throughout the region. Taken in totality, you see a much more transitable […]

Submitted by Andrew, who says: This latest version of the diagram now features correct geographic orientation at junctions. The previous maps were nodal (major stations were shown as hubs where trains can arrive and depart in any direction, sometimes reversing) to keep straight line trajectories as long as possible. See the Southampton example for then and now. The map is now more curvy with a softer less angular appearance which I believe users will prefer. […]

Submitted by Memphis, who says: This is a redesign project of the Taipei Metro Map with aims to enhance the legibility. I 🔸澳洲10定位胆全天计划tried to make something like this three years ago, 🔸澳洲开奖 I was a college student. Back then, to pursue an excellent looking, I gave up a lot of detailed information and lower the font size, the result looks cool but yet not practical (the older version). This confection of a map appears on SNCF🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s website for their low-cost, no-frills, everything-costs-extra TGV service, Ouigo (a name that makes a pun in both English and French — “we go” in the former and “yes, go” in the latter). The map is certainly bright and cheerful, and very definitely on brand for the service. It uses the bright magenta and sky blue colours from the train livery liberally and presents all of France as […]

Thanks to everyone who has alerted me to this rather wonderful map of the German Intercity rail network, created by a Reddit user known only as “theflyingindonesian”. This is actually something that I thought about tackling after I finished my French TGV network map way back in 2011, so I know how daunting and complex a project this is! If you🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页ve never seen the official Deutsche Bahn diagrams for these networks, prepare to be very […]

Submitted by Jug, who says: I🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页d like to submit a map I have been working on for quite some time and finally completed. It🔸AB开奖网澳洲幸运10官网网页s a diagram of the Shinkansen high speed train network in Japan. As the network is basically one main trunk line going from Kyushu to Hokkaido and several spurs it makes sense to show it in a schematic way. Also high speed makes geography and distance almost irrelevant. One will easily notice […]

A small inset diagram from a 1993 tourist map of Tokyo, showing the myriad transportation options between Tokyo and its airports. Nicely simplified, and also gives prices, as well as approximate travel times to Narita (then still officially known as “New Tokyo International Airport”). The distinctive shape made by the Yamanote and Chuo lines (a device also seen in this wonderful 1984 diagram by Richard Saul Wurman) forms the backbone of the diagram.  Source: David Rumsey […]

Created on behalf of a new advocacy group for true high-speed rail in the Pacific Northwest – the aptly named CascadiaRail – this is probably my favourite map of 2018 so far. It’s clear, beautiful, representative of the region, and is wonderfully aspirational – presenting a clear and exciting vision of a possible future. I especially like that there’s no state or national borders shown at all: the region is instead defined by the natural […]
